If you haven’t discovered the joys of cooking with an air fryer – read on!
By using an air fryer, you get the taste of your favourite fried foods – without the fat. Much healthier for you, yet still surprisingly tasty!
Most foods only need a tiny spoonful of oil added; the hot air does the rest.
At the Chic Living kitchen, we’ve road tested two:
The Tefal Actifry
Just quietly, this one was probably our favourite. It features an agitator which means the food is rotated and cooks much more evenly. When it comes to air frying vegetables – everything from frozen chips, to pumpkin wedges, corn on the cob and zucchini slices – simply set and forget. The timer will let you know when it’s done.
However – after about three years the plastic lip, an other pieces of the air fryer became brittle and broke off, until the point where the whole unit needed replacing.
Phillips Air Fryer
This one also does a great job, however without the agitator it’s important to stop and stir up the contents regularly, or your food won’t cook evenly. The basket also didn’t have as large a capacity as the Tefal Actifry.
On the plus side, because there is no agitator, the Phillips Air Fryer came into its own when it came to cooking things like chicken nibbles, fish fingers, even garlic bread.
Both air fryers we road tested were fairly simply to clean, and both are also great for toasting nuts.
If you have been worried that an air fryer would just be another piece of junk to clutter up your kitchen.
