The interior of your home can play a big part in whether you are leading a happy, satisfied life.
You may not think it, but a beautiful house really can make a big difference in your day to day life! Knowing that you have that base to go back to where you feel comfortable, relaxed and perfectly at home, is a great feeling.
To help you create your dream space, we’ve put together some chic DIY ideas to turn a home from drab to delightful in a matter of hours. Just be ready to remove paint from clothes – no one ever said DIY wasn’t messy!
Paint a Feature Wall
We absolutely adore feature walls. They can really bring a room to life and are so simple to do – all you need is a can of paint, a paint brush and overalls – and the right detergent to remove paint from clothes. It’s easy! You could pick a colour that’s already a bit of a theme in your room or go for something entirely new and bold.
A Series of Frames
Why not make a dull wall a bit more interesting with a series of framed pictures? This way, you don’t have to pay for a big art piece and you get more of a unique result. If you’re on a tight budget, you can simply just print a few themed pictures from the internet and buy some frames from an op shop or discount store and voila; a wall of art! We love the themed series idea as a way to break up larger walls and add a quirky look to interiors that need a bit of life.
Coffee Table on Wheels
Isn’t a coffee table on wheels just about the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?! They’re so easy to DIY and make for cute, versatile surfaces that you can easily slide away or around your home! Simply get a surface you can use as your table – anything from a shabby chic wooden crate to a plain, flat wooden surface will do – and drill in your wheels. Simple and super effective!
If you’re looking for an easy way to make your home instantly more chic, comfortable and cosy, DIY cushions are the answer. They’re simple to make if you have a sewing machine and you can choose the fabrics you want to make your interior suit your style. Just get plenty of stuffing so your cushions are super plump and soft!
To make them, cut your fabric into two matching squares, sew together three sides with the back of the fabric together, turn inside out (so the best side of the fabric is now on the outside), stuff, and sew up the final edge by hand.
Hopefully these ideas have given you some home décor DIY inspiration. Once you get the ball rolling, you’ll probably have a ton of ideas of things you can do to make your home more ‘you’.
Have fun and enjoy the process before relaxing in your very own place!
